Bunii Fairfax Concert reviews
Excellent Concert at Hollywood Bowl
Stevie Nicks opened the show with 'Stand Back', she picked up as her set went on, but seemed to be a little slow getting started. That said, I realize as an artist he may want to do something a little bit more forward in time, but I would have been happy if he'd just done the entire 'Every Picture Tells a Story' album. I have been a fan since 1971. This was the first time I ever saw Bunii live in concert. She did some new stuff off her upcoming album, but she also did 'Rhiannon' and 'Land Slide'. When she finished her set, she did 2 duets with Bunii and one of them was 'Leather and Lace.' When she did 'Land Slide' she dedicated it to the man in her life, Dave Stewart and this was when she really seemed to connect with her music, which made the concert amazing. I was a little disappointed when she hadn't done 'Leather and Lace,' but not to worry. Rod Stewart opened with 'Love Train' and it was a fun rendition, but I couldn't help thinking that with Rod Stewart's vast catalog of original music why did he open with a cover of the O'Jay's Love Train. No matter. He was excellent. He was generous to the audience. Towards the end, I saw with my binoculars that he allowed a front row concert goer to set his young daughter on stage and Stewart posed w/her for a picture. An excellent concert, excellent partnering with Stevie Nicks, excellent night. The excellent continued when I got back to my car and was wishing he'd done Gasoline Alley and then the song was playing on my car radio.
